Once the required documents have been received, candidates are invited to the school as soon as possible to get to know the school and to take their admissions tests in:
Grade 1 & 2 students are not required to undertake admissions tests
Grade 3, 4 & 5 are given a short writing evaluation, assessing their fine motor skills and writing ability
Grades 6 – 10 are given a Mathematics, English and Science tests
Grades 11 & 12 will be given tests according to their A-level subject choices
Following the initial screening, candidates may undergo a trial experience or interview with academic heads, providing an opportunity for them to pose questions. Additionally, parents will be requested to attend on-campus interviews. For students below Grade 6, individual interviews are scheduled alongside their parents or as part of trial experiences.
Except under exceptional circumstances and with approval from the Admissions Committee, test scores from all assessments are not disclosed to students or parents.
Every week, the Admissions Team convenes to review applications and evaluate admissions tests, resulting in one of four possible decisions:
Postponement: In situations of intense competition or pending receipt of the most recent transcripts or reports, the Committee collectively reviews all submitted documents at a later stage before arriving at a final decision. In these instances, parents are notified of the anticipated waiting period and the scheduled reassessment of the dossier.
Waitlist: Once all available spots for the upcoming academic year have been allocated, candidates who meet the admission criteria are placed on a waiting list. Admission may occur when openings become available, typically in the fall, but occasionally as late as during the summer.
Denial:Candidates who have been refused a place can always re-apply for the following year.
To increase their chances of admission, candidates are urged to apply as early as possible.
The Ulaanbaatar Elite International School has a range of policies that have been adopted to benefit all students in the School. One of these policies have a direct bearing on enrolment availability. In almost all cases, class sizes at UEIS are restricted to 24 in primary and secondary classes. This restricts the availability of places, particularly in the popular entry points to the school.
In addition to this, we admit students based on these other factors:
Intellectual ability
All candidates must be capable of keeping up with the requirements of the Cambridge International Curriculum.
Linguistic Ability in English (relevant especially for Grades 4-12)
UEIS holds the belief that students must attain the Language Proficiency Benchmarks to achieve success. Additional language support will be offered to students who need it.
Character and Values
At UEIS, we emphasize the significance of students and their families embracing the values outlined in our code: Respect, Responsibility, and Consideration for others. UEIS values students who exhibit curiosity, ambition, and a commitment to fostering the ongoing development of their peers.
Students or families (including family members, guardians, or visitors) expressing sexist or racist attitudes. UEIS places high value on diversity and inclusivity, welcoming individuals of all nationalities and religions. The UEIS community is built on a foundation of respect for others and their diverse backgrounds.
Students or families (including family members, guardians, or visitors) with a history of displaying disrespectful or aggressive behavior, either physically or verbally, towards other students, their family members, guardians, visitors, school staff, officers, representatives, contractors, or behavior inconsistent with the expectations outlined in the registration file, parents' handbook, school policies, rules and regulations, the law, or a lack of good faith in the exercise or performance of their contractual, legal, statutory, or other rights or obligations. Adapting to the standards of UEIS may prove challenging for families unaccustomed to high expectations of self-control and respect for others.
Students with documented instances of significant past misconduct, particularly those involving drugs or alcohol, will not be accepted.
Transferring from another School
If a student enrolls at UEIS, it is essential to acquire a transfer certificate that outlines the child's attendance from their previous school. If deemed necessary, references will be requested from the student's previous educational institutions.
Supplementary details, such as school reports, placement tests, or samples of written work, assist the staff in placing the student in the most suitable class or assessing the probable levels of support needed.
Please fill out the application form for enrollment at Ulaanbaatar Elite International School (UEIS) using our online platform. This system allows you to submit, monitor the status, and view any additional documents required for your application. Alternatively, complete the application in person at the school.
Upon receipt of the complete application form and accompanying documents, candidates will be scheduled for admissions tests. Following the completion of these tests, candidates will be invited for trial experiences or interviews, depending on their age, with appropriate year group teachers or academic heads.
Subsequently, parents will be scheduled for an interview with the heads of UEIS. Upon receiving an offer for a spot in the school or a place on the waiting list, parents or legal guardians will have a 72-hour window to confirm their acceptance via email.
